A conversation with Tymofiy Mylovanov

Tymofiy Mylovanov is an economics professor, President of the Kyiv School of Economics, and advisor to Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy. For a year since the beginning of the war, he has been leading the efforts of Ukrainian economists in supporting the government’s war efforts, providing analytical foundations for war-time policy and an effective sanctions regime, and maintaining high teaching standards at the KSE University and affiliated schools. Tymofiy will discuss Ukraine’s efforts and experiences during the war.
Tymofiy Mylovanov, President of the Kyiv School of Economics, Associate Professor of the University of Pittsburgh, and the former Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine. His research interests cover such areas as theory of games and contracts, and institutional design.
Scott Gehlbach (Moderator) Scott Gehlbach is Elise and Jack Lipsey Professor, Department of Political Science and Harris School of Public Policy. He is also the Director of the PhD Program in Political Economy at the University of Chicago. Gehlbach’s work is motivated by the contemporary and historical experience of Russia, Ukraine, and other postcommunist states.
Monika Nalepa is professor of political science at the University of Chicago. With a focus on post-communist Europe, her research interests include transitional justice, parties and legislatures, and game-theoretic approaches to comparative politics.
Konstantin Sonin is John Dewey Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. His research interests include political economics, development, and economic theory. His papers have been published in leading academic journals in economics and political science.
Susanne A. Wengle is N.R. Dreux Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, and concurrent faculty at the Keough School for Global Affairs. Her research examines post-Soviet political economy and engages with the study of markets in that context and beyond.
